New image of the moon's surface?
No, this is not a photo of the surface of the moon but ...
a fractographic SEM image as part of our H2CAST material tests on special components for underground completions on caverns.
This week, we gained exciting insights into the results of the material tests on special underground components loaded with hydrogen. To this end, we had previously removed components from our caverns that were in operation, enriched them with hydrogen and then put them through their paces in the laboratory.
In addition to the mechanical properties, the investigations into the absorption of hydrogen depending on the ambient conditions also led to interesting results, which are helpful to us in practice when converting caverns to store hydrogen.
