Federal Network Agency gives go-ahead for hydrogen core grid in Germany I Etzel site is part of it!
In a landmark decision for the energy transition in Germany, the Federal Network Agency last week authorised the construction of a hydrogen core grid. The future H2 pipeline network will bring together generation sites, cavern storage facilities and H2 imports. The north-west will play a decisive role in Germany's H2 supply

▶ Investment volume: 18.9 billion euros for the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure
▶ Pipeline length: 9,040 kilometres, Europe's largest hydrogen network
▶ Completion: the network should be fully developed by 2032
▶ Utilisation of existing pipelines: 60% of the pipelines will be converted from existing gas pipelines, 40% newly built
▶ First transport: the first quantities of hydrogen are expected to flow through the network as early as 2025
▶ Climate neutrality: potential to supply 278 TWh of green hydrogen - an important step towards decarbonising the industry and beyond
STORAG ETZEL is proud to be an important part of the hydrogen core network: With a strategic location close to the terminals in Wilhelmshaven and an excellent infrastructure with numerous pipeline connections, the Etzel site is predestined to play a central role in H2 logistics.
